Brainstorm

In case you haven't noticed, I really like science fiction. But some of the best sci-fi movies don't have to have spaceships or aliens.

One of my favorites is Brainstorm with Christopher Walken and Natalie Wood. Special effects master, Douglas Trumbull, took the helm as the film's director. He may not be well known to most moviegoers, but had Trumbull been available at the time, he could have done the special effects for George Lucas' Star Wars.

With his signature ring of fire lens flare in VFX shots, Trumbull was involved with such films as Close Encounters Of The Third Kind, Star Trek: The Motion Picture, and Blade Runner.

Brainstorm came out in 1983, and when I was a kid, it inspired me to want to work at a high tech company like the one portrayed in the film. Fast forward many years later, and I've been blessed to have gotten the chance to work at some of the biggest technology companies in the world--and I don't even have a college degree.
