Robert Patrick is one of the greatest, most underrated actors. After playing the T-1000 in Terminator 2: Judgment Day, he continued in his career with mostly supporting roles in film and television. But one movie with the actor that has always stood out for me is Fire In The Sky. I think his performance in the film's lead role is so commendable, I think it's Oscar-worthy.
Based on a true story about an alien abduction in Arizona, Fire In The Sky also features a little-known actor named Peter Berg, who later went on to direct hit action thrillers like The Kingdom, Lone Survivor, and Deepwater Horizon. And there's also a much older Henry Thomas from E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial and James Garner from The Rockford Files.
You don't have to be fascinated with UFOs and alien abductions to appreciate Fire In The Sky. Enhanced by its beautiful cinematography, the film is an unforgettable look into how an extraordinary event impacted a small town and its residents.
