When you see a Zack Snyder film, you are guaranteed to see some of the best visual effects in a motion picture. From 300 to Watchmen to Man Of Steel, he is one of the greatest visionary filmmakers in recent years.
There was a lot of media buzz around the success of the recent Wonder Woman movie, but the character as played by Gal Gadot was first introduced in Man v Superman: Dawn Of Justice, which Snyder directed. Moreover, Wonder Woman and its upcoming sequel have been produced by Zack Snyder with his wife, Deborah.
Several years earlier, they collaborated on another movie called Sucker Punch whose trailer made it looked ridiculous with its samurai sword-wielding young woman in a skimpy outfit. One day, I had an "oh yeah" moment when I saw it advertise on a movie streaming website and decided to watch it.
I was blown away. In a male-dominated action genre, Sucker Punch with its lead female characters has got some of the greatest action sequences ever. The fight scenes in the World War I fantasy sequence are the coolest I've seen in any film. But it is its outstanding cast that really carried the movie. Zack Snyder was not only the director, but he also co-wrote the script.
It didn't get as much attention as his other movies, but in my humble opinion, Sucker Punch is Zack Snyder's best film, and in light of recent events, I wanted to select it for MOVIE OF THE WEEK. #MeToo
