If you live in California like I do, seeing San Andreas will make you consider getting earthquake insurance.
I saw the Dwayne Johnson film in the theater and was blown away by its visual and special effects, especially because they were rendered mostly in bright daylight, which is no easy feat. But, of course, all the latest effects in the world don't make a movie.
Disaster films often have several mini-stories, but this movie focuses mainly on one family. And even though the plot is not entirely imaginative, San Andreas manages to be educational as it is entertaining, and in my opinion, it's one of The Rock's best films.
With Paul Giamatti (Straight Outta Compton, John Adams), Carla Gugino (Sucker Punch), and Alexandra Daddario (Baywatch) . . .
