You can't have an Oscars awards show without someone getting snubbed. It's happened to the best of them, particularly directors, including Steven Spielberg, Ridley Scott, and Ron Howard.
Awards are not always given based on merit, and in most cases, it's kind of ridiculous to have a movie get nominated for Best Picture and not for Best Director.
Perhaps the biggest slap in the face was with Inception, which got nominated for Best Picture, but it's more mind-boggling than the film itself that Christopher Nolan didn't get a nomination for Best Director.
