When a samurai no longer has a master to serve, he becomes a rōnin. The classic revenge story of the forty-seven rōnin is based on actual events in feudal Japan and has been interpreted in various literary works and film.
Released in 2013, 47 Ronin with Keanu Reeves and Hiroyuki Sanada (The Last Samurai, Avengers: Endgame) adds a fantastical twist to the legend, and it's another great film about the ways of the samurai.
47 Ronin is a prime example as to why I don't trust the scores on Rotten Tomatoes or listen to movie critics. It's among my favorite movies that star Keanu Reeves, along with Point Break, The Matrix trilogy, and John Wick.
