Romeo Must Die

Actors achieve another level of success when they're asked to appear in foreign films.

I was so impressed with Jet Li when I first saw him in Lethal Weapon 4. His fight scenes were fast, and back then, martial arts fighting had not yet become a mainstay like in today's action movies. Li was an unknown to U.S. audiences at the time, but he was already a star in Hong Kong cinema.

After his American debut, Jet Li went on to star in other U.S. feature films like Kiss Of The Dragon, War (with Jason Statham), and The Expendables.

But of all Jet Li's films, my favorite has to be Romeo Must Die, which has just the right mixture of drama, martial arts action, comedy, and hip hop. Even with some of the silly-looking "wire fu," the movie grounds itself with a marvelous cast ensemble and a wholehearted story about family and relationships.
