The Founder

Some of the most iconic companies have been founded by fascinating and visionary people, worthy of a Hollywood biopic--Steve Jobs, Bill Gates, John DeLorean, Lee Iacocca, to name a few.

Ray Kroc may be credited for turning McDonald's into a national brand, but two brothers in California originally started the restaurant chain. It was Maurice and Richard McDonald who truly innovated ways of producing "fast food" while maintaining consistent quality.

First released in 2016, The Founder stars Michael Keaton as Ray Kroc. Keaton got multiple awards and nominations for his lead role in Birdman (2014), but I think his performance in The Founder was also very commendable, and nobody else seemed to notice.

The history of one of the world's most recognizable restaurant companies has some striking resemblance to The Social Network about the beginnings of Facebook. But unlike that David Fincher film, which has its share of exaggerations, The Founder had some involvement with the McDonald family and appears to be mostly accurate.
