Battle Drone

Drones are all the rage these days. I remember the first time I saw video footage that was shot with a drone back in 2013 by Canadian company SkyMotion Video, and I thought, "Wow, this could revolutionize cinematography and videography."

Flying drones allows for beautiful motion shots that are not possible with traditional methods, including using a helicopter with a gimbal-mounted camera.

Drones had become a thing of science fiction, but now we see and hear about them all the time.

Battle Drone was a suggested movie on Netflix, and it takes a very plausible application of drones that uses them as soldiers. Unlike another favorite film of mine about military drones, Kill Command, the combatant drones in Battle Drone are modeled after human bodies and use synthetic muscles.

With its colorful cast of characters and John Woo-inspired gunfights, it appears Battle Drone was intended to launch a TV or film series. I do wish they make another film about the mercenaries.

Some of the drone visual effects may not be as polished as the writing and dialogue, but Battle Drone is a gem that should be on the must-see list of any action movie fan.
