She hadn't done that many action films before, but I think Kristen Stewart could rank among the best leading female action stars, along with the likes of Scarlett Johansson, Angelina Jolie, Jennifer Lawrence, and Kate Beckinsale.
In recent years, Hollywood has done some very imaginative interpretations of children's fairy tale stories and turned them into dark, live-action movies tailored more for adults.
I can't say I'm a big Twilight fan, so the first film with Kristen Stewart I saw was Snow White & The Huntsman with Charlize Theron and Chris Hemsworth.
In addition to the superb acting (particularly Theron and Hemsworth), action, and gorgeous visuals, the writing brilliantly integrates the original fairy tale of Snow White into this epic movie. But what brought the film to the next level was the seven dwarves, which I was not expecting to see.
My one issue with Snow White & The Huntsman is the pacing, which I would have liked to have gone slightly faster. Other than that, I think audiences and critics have unreasonably panned the movie. This film and its follow up, The Huntsman: Winter's War with Emily Blunt and Jessica Chastain, really deserve a second look.
