A Christmas Story

When I was a kid, I wanted to be a DJ. This was the 80s, so, of course, vinyl was still the audio format of choice for mobile disc jockeys, and I dreamed of getting the de facto DJ standard for turntables--the Technics SL-1200 MKII.

With too much time on my hands, I spent hours looking through the product brochure and mail-order catalogs about it, memorizing its features and specifications.

My obsession with the Technics turntable was just like Ralphie's obsession for the Red Ryder BB gun in A Christmas Story.

One year, when I was in the student council in high school, we were discussing activities to do for the holidays, and I suggested we show A Christmas Story.

Even though it supposedly takes place around the early 1940s, the film's story is timeless. Ralphie is so relatable, sharing common childhood experiences from disappointments to daydreaming to mischief to being bullied.

A Christmas Story is as hilarious as it is charming with memorable scenes and quotes, making it one of the great classics for the holidays.

If you haven't seen this iconic film, I triple dog dare you to see it.
