Battle In Seattle

In the 1990s, the Westboro Baptist Church gained notoriety for their wickedly cruel and hateful protests across the United States against Jews, gay people, and even fallen U.S. service members, among other groups.

Westboro Baptist Church's website is www.godhatesfags.com. Yes, despite being considered a hate group, they still exist today, but please read on.

Travel and hotel expenses for a group of people can't be cheap, so I wondered where in hell do these muttonheads get their financing to do their nationwide protests.

Now, seeing what's been happening across America in the past several weeks with the pandemic and based on the absurd comments I see on social media, I realized that unbelievably ignorant and delusional people, like white supremacists and Westboro Baptist Church members, are actually far and wide, but they had just been silent.

This was an alarming epiphany, but I'd like to think there are still many people in the world who are unselfish and rational.

In that respect, of course, a lot of protesters are not always nutjobs with twisted logic and incredibly stupid people.

Back in the day before Netflix was streaming movies, and when they were mostly renting DVDs via U.S. mail, I discovered this movie Battle In Seattle.

The film is about the protests against the World Trade Organization when it held its 1999 conference in the Emerald City, which initially started peacefully until anarchists started causing problems that spiraled out of control.

The movie is anti-WTO and the characters are fictional, but it presents the protest events objectively from different perspectives, mainly from the protesters, the Seattle mayor, and law enforcement.

Battle In Seattle is masterfully written, directed, shot, and edited, and it features a superstar cast--Ray Liotta, Michelle Rodriguez, Woody Harrelson, Charlize Theron, Channing Tatum, along with other familiar faces.

Battle In Seattle is eye-opening as it is informative and entertaining, and if it weren't for Netflix, I might have never heard of this movie gem.
