The Red Sea Diving Resort

History is filled with captivating untold stories, and The Red Sea Diving Resort is among my favorites. The Netflix film tells the incredible story of how the Israeli government helped Ethiopian Jews escape to Jerusalem in the early 1980s.

The cast features Chris Evans, Ben Kingsley, Greg Kinnear, Haley Bennett from The Magnificent Seven (2016), and Michael K. Williams in one of his finest performances. The Red Sea Diving Resort should have been nominated for Best Picture, and despite the solemnity of the subject matter, the movie interjects several moments of humor.

Many people know Michael Kenneth Williams from the hit television series The Wire, but I've known him mostly from other movies. In fact, he's in two other films showcased in Ted's MOVIE OF THE WEEK, Kill The Messenger and RoboCop (2014).

I've followed Williams on social media, and he's not just a great actor. His kindness and caring for others in real life made him the perfect casting choice for his character in The Red Sea Diving Resort. The scar on his face has been a distinguishing mark of the actor, but I'll always remember him the most for being a good human being.

Rest in peace, Michael K. Williams.
