Armageddon

Don't Look Up is a great satire movie, although, given today's political climate, it's a little disconcerting that some of the absurdities and stupidity seen in the Netflix film are not much different from real life.

Don't Look Up reminded me of the Jerry Bruckheimer and Michael Bay disaster action film Armageddon from 1998. The part in Don't Look Up to drill into the comet and blow it up appears to have been lifted from Armageddon, which was co-written by J.J. Abrams.

I'm no rocket scientist, and even the film production company was given access to NASA facilities, but Armageddon's premise seems ridiculous. No matter. Some have called Armageddon a popcorn movie, but it's smart and a lot of fun with a lot of heart.
