Valkyrie

The attempted assassination of Adolf Hitler is one the most captivating stories from history that I did not know about till I heard about the movie Valkyrie with Tom Cruise. There had actually been multiple attempts at Hitler's life, and the film is about one of the last ones in July of 1944, a little over a month after D-Day.

Valkyrie was not the operation to kill Hitler. Instead, the plot entailed using the Reserve Army via Operation Valkyrie to gain control of Berlin from Nazis after the assassination.

There can't be much of a spoiler alert since history has shown Hitler survived the attempted assassination, but Valkyrie is ultimately about Germans who foresaw the inevitable devastation brought about by a monster and his Nazi regime and took matters into their own hands for the greater good of Germany.

Of all the films about little-known events in world history, Valkyrie is one of my top favorites and is an absolute must-see about unsung heroes.
