Time After Time

Often playing the villain, David Warner has been a familiar face in film and television. While he can be found in minor roles, David Warner played opposite Malcolm McDowell in Time After Time.

Time After Time ingeniously intertwines fiction with real history about the notorious Jack the Ripper and H.G. Wells, considered the "father of science fiction" and the author of The Time Machine. In the film, H.G. Wells actually built a time machine and travels into the future.

Hilarity ensues when our hero is welcomed with culture shock when he goes from 1893 England to 1979 America in San Francisco. But he's determined to find and capture the infamous serial killer.

Time After Time was written and directed by Nicholas Meyer, who directed two of the best Star Trek films, Star Trek II: The Wrath of Khan and Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country.

Incidentally, David Warner also appeared in the Star Trek universe multiple times as different characters, and he reunited with Meyer in Star Trek VI: The Undiscovered Country, playing the memorable Klingon High Chancellor Gorkon.

Mary Steenburgen adds to the fine cast on Time After Time, and while it may not be suitable for children, it's a fun and charming film.

Malcolm McDowell, who played H.G. Wells, said this recently of his co-star:

"David was a unique actor, one of the very best of his generation. His portrayal of Jack the Ripper in Time After Time was magnificent. He was an old friend and I will miss him greatly."

Rest in peace, Mr. Warner.
