It's so rare to see an American film with a predominantly Chinese and Japanese cast, but such is 2007's War with Jet Li and Jason Statham.
There's a war between the Triad and the Yakuza in San Francisco, and Statham is an FBI agent in pursuit of an assassin, played by Li, who murdered his partner and family.
I'm a huge fan of Statham and Li, who were both in The One and reunited later in The Expendables films.
Corey Yuen did the fight choreography in War, and even with megastars Statham and Li, some of my favorite scenes are with John Lone (The Last Emperor). There are hardly any award-winning Asian actors, but John Lone is such a great actor, and it's too bad War was the last film he's ever done.
Romeo Must Die is still my favorite Jet Li movie of all time, but I can also highly recommend War because it's one of Li and Statham's best films.
