Evolution

Movie teasers and trailers are supposed to help promote films, but on rare occasions, they can have the opposite effect. And it's asinine when trailers reveal too much of the film's plot or ending, but that's a whole other topic.

When I first saw the trailer for Evolution, I thought it made the 2001 comedy look so dumb I wasn't interested in seeing it. Nonetheless, I went to see it at the theater anyway, partly because there wasn't anything else for me to watch around that time.

To my surprise, Evolution with David Duchovny, Orlando Jones, Julianne Moore, and Seann William Scott turned out to be one of my favorite comedies. I should have known better as it was directed by Ivan Reitman (Ghostbusters, Twins, Beethoven), and I'll never forget how one scene had me and the audience roaring with laughter.

I enjoy watching trailers, but frankly, some have ruined the anticipation for the film. I'm glad I gave Evolution a chance because, like Draft Day, Evolution is another one of Ivan Reitman's underrated films.
