Adapted from novels, The Hunger Games and Divergent film series are about social classes in a dystopian future with a female lead character, so comparisons between the two are inevitable. It may not have been as widely successful, but I think the latter is better than the former, particularly with respect to plot and pacing.
Like Jennifer Lawrence's breakout role in The Hunger Games, Shailene Woodley is an exceptional actress who was perfectly cast for the lead in Divergent. The superb cast also includes Theo James, Kate Winslet, and Ashley Judd. Incidentally, Lenny Kravitz was in The Hunger Games films while his daughter, Zoë, was in the Divergent trilogy.
The Divergent series could have concluded with the second film, Insurgent, but the third installment, Allegiant, is just as satisfying. I like Jennifer Lawrence, but I like the Divergent films more than The Hunger Games, and I wish more people would see it because the Divergent trilogy is so underappreciated.
