The 355

The 355 is kind of a mixture of The Expendables and James Bond, except the main lead characters are female.

Jessica Chastain demonstrated she could do hard-hitting action in Ava, but this is the first time I've seen Diane Kruger (Troy, Inglourious Basterds) in an action role. Penelope Cruz and Lupita Nyong'o also join the cast, accompanied by two of my favorite actors, Γ‰dgar Ramirez and Sebastian Stan.

In The 355, members of different spy agencies join forces to retrieve a device that, in the wrong hands, can cause global havoc. Saving the world is hardly anything new in movies, but the premise of an international collaboration involving multiple countries is refreshingly different.

Movies with action female leads had been rare for decades, and if there's an industry that has changed with the times, it's the movie industry. Hollywood has progressed, but there are still ways to go.

The 355 is an above-average, underappreciated action film, and I hope it turns into a film series.
