Street Kings

From Bill & Ted's Excellent Adventure to John Wick, Keanu Reeves is known for a number of iconic roles, but one of his very best films has been forgotten and underappreciated.

With Forest Whitaker, Chris Evans, and Hugh Lurie, Street Kings is about a detective, played by Keanu Reeves, in a special unit of the LAPD with questionable and unethical methods.

David Ayer was the director of Street Kings, demonstrating he is as exceptional as a director as he is a screenwriter (Training DaySuicide SquadEnd of Watch), bringing the street grittiness that is a trademark in his films. I was also delighted to learn Street Kings was co-written by another favorite filmmaker, Kurt Wimmer (Equilibrium, the re-makes of Point Break and Total Recall).

Keanu Reeves is renowned as an action movie star, but he also delivers one of his finest performances in Street Kings. I think Street Kings is one of the best police crime drama films ever made, along with other favorites, like Heat, Cop Land, and Training Day.
