Dark Space

Of all the movie gems I've discovered so far, Dark Space is a particularly special one because it was a film that made me realize there can be a disparity between a movie's production value and the quality of its story.

In Dark Space, some of the dialogue and acting may not earn any accolades, but the story is so good, and that's what ultimately matters to me.

Dark Space is a B-movie sci-fi action thriller that takes place in the future. A group of college students charters a vacation trip to a planet, but a system malfunction causes them to divert and crash on an unknown planet. They soon discover they're not alone, but that's just the beginning of their nightmare, as they learn about an insidious enterprise.

If I were a movie producer, I would purchase the rights to Dark Space, rewrite some parts of the script, and remake the film with a higher budget. Dark Space has the potential to even be a film series.

It's too bad that some excellent films, especially movie gems, have limited to no availability on streaming services. Aside from my DVD and Blu-ray collection, my video-on-demand movie library is almost entirely on Vudu. But I was concerned Dark Space, along with the Korean disaster film The Tower, might disappear indefinitely, so I ended up purchasing them on Amazon Prime Video.
