Erin Brockovich

With the recent chemical spill from the train derailment in Ohio, Erin Brockovich is back again, fighting for the little people.

It's been over 20 years since the film Erin Brockovich came out, and it's still a captivating biopic about a struggling mother turned legal clerk and whistleblower. It's ultimately a classic David and Goliath story made more remarkable by a young woman without any legal background.

Julia Roberts is the potty-mouthed, short-tempered single mom of three who lands a job at a small law firm that goes up against the public utilities giant Pacific Gas & Electric in the 1990s.

Despite her lack of education and experience in practicing law, Erin Brockovich played an essential role in fighting for justice for citizens of Hinkley, California, where a PG&E plant was releasing toxic materials that caused illnesses and deaths.

Erin Brockovich was directed by Steven Soderbergh (Contagion, Logan Lucky, TrafficOcean's Eleven) with Albert Finney and Aaron Eckhart as co-stars, and it garnered numerous award nominations, including for Best Actress and Best Picture.

There have been countless films about corporate corruption, but Erin Brockovich is among my favorites. Her short fuse, as portrayed in the movie, can be a turnoff, but Erin Brockovich is the ultimate underdog with a good heart, and I wish more people were like her.
