Keanu

When my family and I lived in New Orleans, we had a cat named Poochie, and whenever my dad pronounced her name, it would sometimes come out sounding like . . . well, you know.

I like dogs, but I'm more of a cat person. When I was a little boy, I loved watching Walt Disney's The Cat From Outer Space. There don't seem to be that many movies about cats compared to dogs, so Keanu was refreshingly new when it came out in 2016.

Before Keanu, I had never heard of the comedy duo Key & Peele, and I don't know why because I watched some of their sketches on Comedy Central, and they're hilarious. Jordan Peele has also established himself as a serious, award-winning filmmaker.

Keanu is an action comedy about two cousins and a lost kitten. Interestingly, Keanu Reeves initially was not interested in lending his voice in the film for a short dream sequence, but his sister changed his mind after seeing the movie trailer.

People love Internet cat videos, so why shouldn't there be more movies about cats? By the same token, I'd like to see more comedy movies with Key & Peele. In the meantime, I highly recommend Keanu, and it's not just for the adorable kitten. Jordan Peele and Keegan-Michael Key are two of the funniest guys to come around in recent years.
