Minority Report

Released over 20 years ago, Minority Report is still on my list of Best movies. It's among Steven Spielberg and Tom Cruise's best films and one of the best science fiction movies ever.

Based on Philip K. Dick's novella The Minority Report, the film is about a special police department that predicts and stops crimes before they happen. Minority Report featured some cool-looking technologies, but the movie is probably most remembered for the in-the-air, hand-controlled user interface.

Minority Report cast Max von Sydow and an unknown at the time named Colin Farrell, who I wasn't aware was an Irish actor until I saw him in an interview.

I remember how Minority Report and Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones came out the same year (2002), and while George Lucas and Steven Spielberg are close friends, it seemed like Spielberg was silently shouting, "Hey, guys! Remember me? I can do sci-fi action films, too!"
