Social media has become another source to discover movies. The Spy Who Never Dies came up recently in my feed, and after finally seeing it, I've officially declared it a comedy gem.
As the title suggests, The Spy Who Never Dies is a parody of the spy action thriller films à la Austin Powers. But the comedy is not trying to ridicule the genres, and it's not just capitalizing on them. The movie is pretty funny with an interesting story, if a bit formulaic.
While there are no bankable stars, The Spy Who Never Dies has decent action sequences, production value, and a visual style that almost rivals its more serious film counterparts, like the Mission: Impossible and modern James Bond films.
The Spy Who Never Dies is a parody done very well and one that hasn't been done in a long time, and I hope to see more movie installments with "f--king Brad."
