Flash of Genius

Henry Ford was an anti-Semite. History recognizes him for founding the car company bearing his name and the inventor of the assembly line while ignoring his anti-Semitic activities. It's any wonder the Ford Motor Company did not rebrand.

In contrast, you may not have heard of Dr. Robert Kearns, but his invention is found in billions of cars today--the intermittent windshield wiper. Flash of Genius is the incredible and heartbreaking true David vs. Goliath story about the inventor going up against one of the Big Three companies.

Back in the 1990s, I always enjoyed watching Greg Kinnear host Talk Soup on E!, and it wasn't till later that I learned he was also such a good actor. But he only appeared in a few major Hollywood films, so I was delighted to see him again in The Red Sea Diving Resort with Chris Evans. In Flash of Genius, Greg Kinnear played the lead role.

If you like films like Tucker: The Man and His Dream, The Insider, and Kill The Messenger, then Flash of Genius is a must-see. It's a fascinating underdog story of perseverance, but above all, it's about ethics. Flash of Genius is a forgotten film, but I think it should be shown in schools.
