Mortal Engines

Mortal Engines was heavily marketed as a Peter Jackson film, but the New Zealand filmmaker didn't take the helm as director for its production. Instead, he served as one of the producers and writers, and even still, Mortal Engines has all the hallmarks of his movies with outstanding cast members, direction, epic action, and fantastic visual effects.

Based on the novel, Mortal Engines offers a refreshing take on science fiction action with its steampunk story and visuals, but critics and audiences didn't appreciate it as much when it was released in 2018. Peter Jackson will forever be highly regarded for his film adaptations of The Lord of the Rings and Hobbit trilogies, but Mortal Engines may be his most underrated movie and deserves another viewing.
