Forsaken

They've both worked in Hollywood for decades, yet Forsaken is the first movie in which Donald Sutherland and his son, Kiefer, appeared on screen together.

Released in 2015, Forsaken is an independent Western film about the strained relationship between a father and son who returned from the Civil War. Kiefer plays the son who led a life of violence until a tragic event made him reevaluate his life.

Forsaken was directed by Jon Cassar, one of the directors and producers of the 24 TV series, and the outstanding cast also includes Brian Cox, Michael Wincott (Strange Days, 24: Live Another Day), and Demi Moore. Forsaken is excellently written and features another exceptional performance by Donald Sutherland in a lead role.

Donald Sutherland was absolutely one of the greats, and unless you've lived under a rock, there can't be a generation that has not seen his work. He was an acting legend, widely admired and working into his 80s. Forsaken may not be one of his best-known films, but it's particularly special because he got to play with his real-life son.

Rest in peace, Donald Sutherland.
