The Three Musketeers - Part I: D'Artagnan

The Three Musketeers (Les Trois Mousquetaires) was written by the famed French author Alexandre Dumas, whose mother was enslaved, and the novel has been widely adapted into numerous films.

One of the latest adaptations comes from France, and while The Three Musketeers - Part I: D'Artagnan is a French film, two of the French actors have appeared in several American movies--Eva Green (Casino Royale, Kingdom of Heaven, 300: Rise of an Empire) and Vincent Cassel (Black Swan, Ocean's Thirteen, Underwater). Cassel was also in another outstanding French film I featured in MOVIE OF THE WEEK, Brotherhood of the Wolf.

Given its title, there is obviously a sequel, The Three Musketeers - Part II: Milady, which concludes the saga. Because of its ageless story of evil, betrayal, and heroism, Dumas' classic novel will probably continue to be adapted into film for many years to come, but The Three Musketeers films from 2023 stand out with their beautiful cinematography, excellent direction, cast, and action. If you haven't watched it yet, The Three Musketeers - Part I: D'Artagnan is highly recommended.
