Not believing Michael Douglas was delivering his best performance early in the production of Wall Street, writer and director Oliver Stone told the actor in a private conversation that he wanted him to give a little more "oomph" in his acting.
Michael Douglas went on to win an Oscar for Best Actor as the notorious Gordon Gekko in Wall Street. Douglas is already an acting legend, but watching him in Wall Street is a must-see.
But that's not the only reason to watch Wall Street (again). Insider trading is illegal, and the film should be shown in colleges. Wall Street has a lot of jargon, but for the uninitiated, like myself, you understand it enough to follow the plot. The movie is a great fictional but very plausible story about greed. After all, the character Gordon Gekko was inspired by a real person, Ivan Boesky.
And while it wasn't written by Oliver Stone and wasn't as successful, Wall Street: Money Never Sleeps is a worthy sequel to the original 1987 film.
